S 2.1 Engage Every Child, Every Day

HCVS students are learning from a distance, so need to be engaged in a unique way by their teachers and coursework. Strategies and professional development outlined for this school year will address absenteeism, course failure, and lack of engagement.

Benchmark Indicator

  1. Student Attendance: % of students receiving regular instruction (excluding students on out of school suspension (daily).
  2. Graduation Rate: % of students graduating in four years and a summer after entering ninth grade (monthly).
  3. Ready Graduates: % of graduates in prior year meeting state criteria for "readiness" (monthly).

A 2.1.1 Engaging Every Student
  • All teachers, K-12, offer an advisory hour each week. Targeted students are given personal invitations to attend on a rotating basis. The meeting always begins with an "ice breaker" game or activity to motivate students to attend. The remainder of the time is spent in student support in regards to academics.
  • All teachers provide a weekly enrichment activity that is optional for student credit. The assignment should integrate to current coursework, but extend learning and engage the learner.
