G 1 RCVS will prepare students for college and career readiness by increasing the average ACT composite score, increasing early post-secondary enrollment, increasing industry certifications/credentialing, and maintaining our high graduation rate.

This goal will continue to focus on preparing our students for post-secondary opportunities. This includes raising our average ACT score composite with a focus on all content areas of college readiness. With the Ready Graduate requirement, we will also focus on ensuring all students have access to early post-secondary opportunities and work-based learning opportunities that meet their career goals and practicums.

RCVS will work to help students access resources needed to ensure high school graduation and prepare them for post-secondary. Our desired outcomes will be displayed through college and career opportunities, EPSO enrollment, ACT results, and graduation rates. RCVS Counselor, Jennifer Courtney, will work with Interventionist, Laura Schlesinger, and ESL Teacher, Dr. Johnna Paraiso, along with RCVS staff to help students increase their average ACT composite and prepare them for post-secondary. RCVS will focus on maintaining our 100% graduation rate and ensuring all students have access to EPSO opportunities.

S 1.2 Instructional Materials and Resources

RCVS will provide instructional materials and resources to assist teachers, parents, and students in reaching ACT, EPSO, and graduation rate goals. The materials and resources include: Cert Individual Learning Paths and Test Preparation, Desmos Calculators, Modern States, and CLEP. Desired outcomes will be reflected through an increase in EPSO's and ACT growth.

A 2.2.1 English/Language Arts Benchmark Testing

ELA teachers will administer a fall benchmark to all students. The purpose of this exam is to identify students in need of tiered reading intervention. Also, ELA teachers will analyze data from the exam to determine strengths and weaknesses of students for the purposes of curriculum planning, as well as intervention and enrichment.

G 4 RCVS will recruit, retain, and train effective teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators to support our growing and diverse student population.

We will continue to prioritize the recruitment of strong educators and support our current staff through ongoing professional development, leadership opportunities, and incentive programs. Our objective is to maintain a staff where over 90% of teachers earn a Level of Effectiveness (LOE) score of 3 or above. As our school continues to grow, we will also concentrate on developing and supporting teacher leaders and strengthening the instructional capacity of our school-based leadership team.

In addition, the goal includes looking at how we are utilizing supplementary services and enrichment programs to promote a well-rounded education in spring 2026.

S 5.3 Physically Healthy and Safe Students

RCVS will provide resources and materials to families to support healthy and safe students and help reduce barriers that will stand in the way of student achievement. Our desired outcomes will be displayed through a variety of safe schools reports and school health reports.

To create a safe environment for students, Digital Citizenship training and implementation will make students aware of proper online etiquette and diminish the risk of online bullying.

A 5.3.3 Student and Parent Contracts

Students and Parents are required to sign contracts upon acceptance to Rutherford County Virtual School. These contracts ask that each parent stays involved in his/her child's education by taking on the role as a Learning Coach. The contracts also ask that each parent makes coming in for in-person testing a priority, among other things.

S 5.4 Increasing Attendance and Opportunity to Learn for students

RCVS will provide resources, trainings, and personnel designed to support schools as they work to increase student attendance. Our desired outcomes will be displayed through a variety of attendance reports through our student information system.

A 5.4.1 Learning Loss Recovery

When a student loses academic time in their synchronous classes, the teachers will provide office hours to all students to recoup the lost learning time. Synchronous learning loss can result due to disciplinary issues, student and parent emergencies, or technical difficulties.
