S 1.2 Synchronous Support
Since our students work in an asynchronous environment, our school has begun several synchronous opportunities for support. Some of these are virtual intervention meetings (VIMs), and in-person test prep (V.I.P.E.R. Nights). Our Student Support Services team also hosts virtual study sessions throughout the day for students with disabilities. These events present the opportunity for our teachers to remediate synchronously and address areas of deficit in understanding of the material.
Benchmark Indicator
Increased attendance at synchronous events.
A 1.2.1 Virtual Intervention Meetings
A team of people including administrators, counselor, and interventionists meet weekly and examine a failure report and ask for teacher feedback. We require our online students that are failing any class to attend Virtual Intervention Meetings (VIM) with the interventionists later that week. In these meetings, staff discuss why they are failing and create a plan to address the problem. Subject area teachers will periodically attend VIM meetings to help support student intervention.
